Data and Digital Government Strategy
The Ministry of Works in the Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to advancing digital transformation and strengthening the path of e-Government by implementing a comprehensive digital strategy aimed at enhancing public service delivery, improving operational efficiency, and promoting transparency. This strategy aligns with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 and is developed in close coordination with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), focusing on providing smart, secure, and user-centric digital services.
The Ministry’s digital transformation efforts adhere to Bahrain’s overarching
Digital Government Policies - PDF (307 KB) , which outline key frameworks such as the Digital First Policy, Digital Government as a Right, and the Once Only Data Policy.
The Ministry places particular emphasis on adopting emerging technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence to ensure data integration among government entities through secure and interoperable systems. Cybersecurity, sustainability, and innovation are also top priorities, supporting smart infrastructure projects and contributing to a tangible improvement in the quality of life for all citizens and residents.

Ministry of Works Digital Transformation Strategy
In line with the objectives of Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 and the Government Program for the period 2023–2026, the Ministry of Works has implemented a number of technological solutions in collaboration and coordination with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), as part of its efforts to advance digital transformation and enhance the quality of services provided. Among these solutions are:
-
•Cloud Computing Transformation
The shift to cloud computing marked a significant leap in the Ministry of Works' operational model, contributing noticeably to enhanced operational efficiency, improved service delivery, and increased flexibility of the technical infrastructure. This move enabled the Ministry to reduce operational costs associated with maintaining traditional infrastructure, while benefiting from scalable and flexible technology resources that adapt to the evolving needs of projects.
Thanks to the improvements it brings in security, performance, and innovation potential, especially through tools such as artificial intelligence and big data, the Ministry is now able to manage infrastructure projects more effectively, while maintaining full compliance with government regulations and standards.
-
•Artificial Intelligence initiatives
The Ministry of Works actively adopts artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives to enhance decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and optimize project execution. One of the key applications in this area is the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions powered by AI, which enable intelligent planning, simulation, and management of infrastructure projects throughout their lifecycle.
By combining AI with BIM technologies, the Ministry can analyze complex datasets, predict construction-related risks, optimize resource allocation, and detect design conflicts before implementation begins. These technologies contribute to increased accuracy, reduced costs, and the development of more sustainable, data-driven projects.
The adoption of these smart tools reflects the Ministry's strong commitment to digital transformation and innovation in the fields of construction and infrastructure.

As part of its commitment to transparency and fostering innovation, the Ministry of Works supports the
Open Data Policy - PDF (345 KB) in collaboration with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). This is achieved by making data publicly available in usable and redistributable formats. The initiative aims to empower researchers, entrepreneurs, and developers to utilize data in developing innovative solutions, improving services, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
This policy reflects the Ministry's direction toward maximizing the value of digital assets, in alignment with the goals of digital transformation and Bahrain's Vision 2030.
